Just last week, I was in a car accident. My car was totaled. I had to take time off work and school to sort through all the information for the insurance companies, rental places, and chiropractor. And even now as I’m writing this, I’m laying on a heating pad, grimacing, because of the pain in my back. Talk about an inconvenience.
The more hassle that comes from this accident, the more I get frustrated with life. I start noticing all the other little (and big) things that are going wrong. And I know….it’s just life. Things will go wrong. Even Jesus Himself promised that. “In this world you will have trouble,” He said (Jn. 16:33). But the verse doesn’t stop there.
It continues, “Take heart, I have overcome the world.” What a breath of fresh air amidst my woeful, stale thoughts. All of my problems – each and every thing that has gone miserably wrong – have nothing on God. He is bigger than the pressure of finding a new car in a week. He is bigger than back pain. He is bigger than the insurance companies. Bigger than my fears and anxieties. Bigger than all the “what-ifs” my mind can conjure up.
So no matter what you are stuck in the middle of – big, small, or in between- take heart. He has overcome it.
